Matthew Burns
Master Craftsman
As the eldest brother in our family-run picture framing and woodworking studio, Matthew has been at the heart of the business for the longest, bringing over 15 years of hands-on experience to every piece he crafts. His journey began as an apprentice cabinetmaker at a kitchen fitters, where he honed his woodworking skills before moving on to a creative studio in Glasgow’s West End, where he learned the fundamentals of picture framing.
Passionate about working with wood, he is happiest when hands-on and crafting, with his speciality in hand-finished frames. His craftsmanship has earned a place in some of the most prestigious spaces, including the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, the Scottish Parliament, and homes and businesses across London, New York, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

Ryan Burns
Technical Lead
The middle child in our family-run studio, Ryan took a unique path into the world of picture framing. With a background as a musician and sound engineer, his career took a turn during the COVID-19 pandemic and the start of his own young family. Joining his older brother, he quickly learned the craft of framing, and together they brought Watershed Framing to life around five years ago.
Bringing his technical expertise into the workshop, Ryan has modernised operations—sourcing new suppliers, integrating online software, and refining workflows to enhance efficiency. His eye for detail has also made him a go-to for colour matching, with a particular talent for selecting the perfect mount to complement any artwork. Blending precision with creativity, Ryan has made his mark on the business, helping shape Watershed Framing into what it is today.

Patrick Burns
Marketing & Communications Lead
The youngest of the three, Patrick joined the family business as Watershed Framing was conceived, bringing his expertise in marketing and communications. While he readily admits he has no skill in picture framing, his role is just as vital—crafting the brand’s message, engaging with clients, and driving new business opportunities.
With a background in both marketing and hospitality, Patrick thrives on building relationships, ensuring every customer interaction is warm, professional, and tailored to their needs. He focuses on sharpening the brand’s voice, expanding its reach, and connecting Watershed Framing with art lovers, interior designers, and businesses alike.
